PLog to ESdat Translation

Translation (gedts) File

 

Data is transferred from PLog to ESdat as specified in the file "PLog.gedt" stored in the Templates directory.  The gedt file format is developed by EScIS for data tranfer, but is similar to formats developed by other companies.  The specifications are provided here.

 

The translation from PLog to ESdat is generally fairly can be easily traced by looking at the PLog Data Menus Supported page and the fields mostly have equivalent and intuitive matches.  For details the PLog.gedt file can be opened in Notepad or other text editors.

 

The transfer of Stratigraphy data from PLog is the most complex, and is described below.

 

pLog Soil and Rock Stratigraphy Translation

Soil and Rock Stratigraphy data are collected in different sets of forms in PLog.  The standard data translation is into the single "Geology" table in ESdat according to the following description.
