ESdat Development: LSpecs Web Version

Managing multiple Monitoring Programs across one or many sites is about to become a whole lot easier for users of ESdat.

To ensure compliance with relevant environmental regulations and guidelines environmental professionals are often required to maintain multiple Monitoring Programs characterised by:

  • Competing deadlines and field staff schedules
  • Variable monitoring frequency
  • Varying locations
  • Variations in sample collection methodologies and analytes to test
  • Different environmental standards

To address these workflow issues and assist environmental professionals efficiently and effectively manage their data, EScIS is rebuilding the previous LSpecs module for ESdat. The new module for ESdat will provide comprehensive management of Monitoring Program schedules and include a Monitoring Program Scheduling utility, calenders, notifications and an efficient workflow based field data collection system .

ESdat Scheduler will be completely web based, and will still integrate with existing ESdat functionality. The Scheduler is just one exciting part of the current development. Other key features include:

  • Managing Laboratory Quotes and associated Information;
  • Task Assignment - assigning tasks to people;
  • Electronic field data collection, electronic COC;
  • Managing task completion;
  • Automated import/upload of laboratory results ;
  • A full interactive QA module and Chemistry Exceedance Table;
  • Approval process associated with the receipt of laboratory data.

This will simplify the creation of sample plans to just four easy steps.

  • Define Monitoring Program(s) (regular or ad-hoc)
  • View a Schedule
  • View the status of all pending tasks
  • Create a new monitoring round

See all of your Monitoring Programs Dates, along with completed Monitoring Rounds in a familiar Gantt chart style.

The view can be filtered by: Monitoring Program, Monitoring Zone, Location, Personnel. You can also create new Monitoring Rounds by clicking on a date.

View the status of all pending Tasks.

All upcoming monitoring, or tasks that require finalising are listed. Clicking a task will display further information associated with the particular task. The data displayed may be filtered by Monitoring Program, Monitoring Zone, Location, Personnel

Plan a new Monitoring Round

A Monitoring Round can be generated against multiple or one Monitoring Program(s).

Where a Monitoring Round is generated against multiple Monitoring Programs the Locations and the analytes to be analysed from all Monitoring Programs will be consolidated seamlessly into the one Monitoring Round.

The Monitoring Round details can be printed, or uploaded to the new (pending as of publication) Android version of PLog for electronic field data completion.

Collect your field data electronically

A new release of PLog to run on Android and Windows Tablets will allow field data to be collected even where there is no internet coverage.  All your field chemistry, groundwater levels, COC information, as well as complete borehole logs can be completed and previewed in the field, and immediately synced to LSpecs and ESdat.  Alternatively, all data can be entred directly into LSpecs through the web.  PLog on Android is due to be released in early May, and demos will be available. 

Submit your COC request electronically

Users will be able to complete their COC information directly in LSpecs, and send an electronic request directly to the laboratory.  The data entry form is designed to replicate the paper based for in layout for ease of user transition.  A copy of the form is shown below.

Upon receiving this request, the laboratory will be able to issue an electronic SRN (Sample Receipt Notification) which will indicate any non-compliance issues (samples received outside of holding times) and confirm the analyses to be conducted on each sample.

Automated upload of lab results, and Acceptance workflow

Users will be able to compare the results delivered by the laboratory with their request.  A web version of the ESdat QA Report and Chemistry Exceedance Table, along with a request / delivery comparison will allow users to easily verify the data and set it as "Accepted".

The QA and Chemistry Exceedance Tables will enhance to existing outputs available through ESdat, being interactive, and allowing Qualifiers and Comments to be entered directly against each result.


Analyse and Report through ESdat

This lab data will then be available to analyse and report thorugh ESdat in the normal manner.
